The home market

Louisville, where we did the work before asking anyone for anything

It is not on the market list, and we should say why. It is where we are, it is where our published research was done, and it is bigger than the cities the method is built for.

Bigger than the rule allows, and worked anyway

Louisville has about six hundred and forty thousand people, which is more than twice the ceiling we use everywhere else. By our own rule it does not belong on the list.

We work it because it is home. We can drive to a client's office, sit down, and be accountable in person, and the first client anywhere is worth more than the fee. It is also where we ran the audit that everything else on this site rests on.

Being straight about the trade off: a city this size has more firms already paying for search, so results here take longer than they would in a city of a hundred and fifty thousand. That is our problem rather than yours, because the invoice still only exists after fourteen days on page one.

What we measured here

August 2026, one phrase, one day.

Thirty seven firms read

Every probate and estate firm we could find, homepage and practice page both, not just the ones a directory lists.

Eleven directory slots

Of the thirty nine positions we captured in the top forty, eleven belonged to directories rather than to a law firm.

Two hundred and fifty three reviews, invisible

The firm with the most Google reviews in our study does not appear in the top forty for the phrase at all.
